Osteopathy for Arthritic Conditions (Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Osteoporosis)
As we age, aches and pains can become more frequent, with osteoarthritis being a common diagnosis. This condition often affects weight-bearing joints such as the hips, knees, neck, and lower back, but it can occur in any joint throughout the body.
While joint degeneration is frequently linked to pain and can show up on an X-ray as osteoarthritis, the root cause of the discomfort is often not the joint itself. More commonly, it's the surrounding soft tissues, including muscles, ligaments, and tendons, that become tight and contribute to pain. Osteopaths are trained to pinpoint these areas of tension and treat them, in addition to addressing the joint and its surrounding areas.
Though osteopathy can't reverse the aging process, it can help manage the symptoms associated with arthritis. By providing gentle treatments to reduce pain and improve mobility, osteopathy can help slow the progression of wear and tear, ease muscle stiffness, and support flexibility and coordination. This leads to a more active and fulfilling life, even as we grow older.
